This book presents a coherent approach to nonequilibrium processes, in particular kinetic theory, linear response theory and quantum master equations. The relation to stochastic processes is highlighted. Starting from a general discussion of the nonequilibrium state, different approaches such as master equations, and kinetic and linear response theory, are derived after special assumptions. This allows for different approaches and to propose improvements. Applications and typical examples are given, as well as exercises throughout the book. Solutions and hints are included at the end of the book. Fully worked problems (simple to advanced) and summaries for each chapter, and a glossary will be included.
