Though only a minor pendant to the great Cello Concerto, Antonín Dvorák‘s Rondo op. 94 is an effective and entertaining piece that belongs in the standard repertoire of every cellist. Dvorák composed it in December 1891 shortly before leaving for America, and he gave the work its première performance on 3 January 1892 with his friend, the cellist Hanus Wihan, during his farewell concert tour. To produce this urtext edition Milan Pospísil consulted the autograph score and first edition not only for the piano version, but also for the orchestral version of October 1893.
Le Rondo op. 94 d'Antonín Dvorák, composé en décembre 1891, est certes considéré comme le «petit frère» du grand concerto pour violoncelle, mais cette composition divertissante et pleine d'expressivité fait néanmoins partie de la littérature attitrée du répertoire standard de tout violoncelliste. Écrit peu avant le départ de Dvorák pour les États-Unis, le Rondo fut créé dès le 3 janvier 1892 par le compositeur en personne et son ami, le violoncelliste Hanus Wihan, lors d'une tournée d'adieu. Milan Pospísil, l'éditeur de cette édition critique, s'est appuyé pour son travail sur l'autographe et la première édition de la version pour piano ainsi que sur l'autographe et la première édition de la version orchestrale réalisée en octobre 1893.
Antonín Dvoráks Rondo op. 94, komponiert im Dezember 1891, ist zwar nur ein kleiner Bruder des großen Cellokonzerts, gleichwohl gehört das effektvolle, kurzweilige Stück zur Standardliteratur jedes Cellisten. Es entstand kurz vor Dvoráks Abreise nach Amerika und wurde bereits am 3. Januar 1892 von ihm zusammen mit seinem Freund, dem Cellisten Hanus Wihan, während seiner Abschiedstournee uraufgeführt. Dem Herausgeber Milan Pospísil standen für diese Urtextausgabe neben Autograph und Erstausgabe der Klavierfassung auch Autograph und Erstausgabe der im Oktober 1893 entstandenen Orchesterfassung zur Verfügung.
