Chopin’s Piano Concertos first saw the light of day around 1829/1830 and thus represent the culmination and termination of his student years in Warsaw. Both concertos are early masterpieces with which Chopin celebrated triumphs on his first foreign concert tours, and to this day their popularity has remained unbroken. As to the sources, the situation for the e-minor concerto is simple, since hardly any autograph material has survived. The Henle Urtext of the solo part is thus based on the first edition of 1833 that the composer himself authorised for printing. The piano reduction of the orchestral parts is based on material that has its roots close to Chopin himself. The Henle edition thus makes possible an authentic study of this core work of piano concerto literature.
Chopin écrivit ses concertos pour piano vers 1829/1830. Ils constituent en quelque sorte à la fois le point culminant et la fin de sa période étudiante à Varsovie. Les deux concertos sont des chefs-d’œuvre précoces avec lesquels Chopin connut un grand succès lors de ses premières tournées de concert à l’étranger. Leur popularité reste d’ailleurs entière jusqu’à ce jour. L’état des sources relatives au concerto en mi mineur est clair. Quasiment aucun matériel autographe n’a été conservé. En conséquence, l’édition urtext de la partie de soliste parue chez Henle s’appuie sur la première édition de 1833 initiée par Chopin. La réduction pour piano des parties orchestrales se fonde sur le matériel issu de l’entourage de Chopin – l’édition Henle permet ainsi une étude authentique de cette pièce maîtresse du répertoire des concertos pour piano!
Chopins Klavierkonzerte entstanden um 1829/1830 und bilden damit gewissermaßen den Schluss- und Höhepunkt seiner Warschauer Studienjahre. Beide Konzerte sind frühe Meisterwerke, mit denen Chopin auf seinen ersten Konzertreisen im Ausland große Erfolge feierte. Bis heute ist die Popularität dieser Klavierkonzerte ungebrochen. Die Quellenlage zum e-moll-Konzert ist übersichtlich. Autographes Material hat sich kaum erhalten. Die Henle-Urtextausgabe der Solostimme stützt sich daher auf die von Chopin veranlasste Erstausgabe aus dem Jahr 1833. Der Klavierauszug der Orchesterpartien basiert auf Material aus Chopins Umfeld – die Henle-Edition ermöglicht so ein authentisches Studium dieses Kernstücks der Klavierkonzert-Literatur!
